Hasle Cottage Centre
In the middle of the 18th century, enterprising peasants on Bornholm decided that serious measures were required to prevent sand drift from ruining their farm land. The solution they came up with was to plant a forest at the western coastline of the island. As the trees grew, they turned into what is now known as Hasle Forest.
Hasle Cottage Centre is situated in these beautiful surroundings. The centre consists of 40 cosy cottages (14 m²), which were renovated during 2005-2006. Each cottage features: Sleeping accommodation for four, kitchenette, refrigerator and a dining alcove. Sliding doors enable you to split the cottage into two rooms, each with its own entrance. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the centre building, as well as bathrooms and toilets.
Long ago, Hasle was a major centre for excavation of clay, but it has been many years since the last load of clay was shipped from the harbour of the village. Competition from abroad put an end to the industry, but the huge holes remained to scar the landscape. As time went by they were, however, filled with water, which transformed the empty holes into beautiful lakes. Along with the lovely forest and the excellent beach, these lakes make a stay in Hasle Cottage Centre a unique experience in wonderful natural surroundings.
