Dueodde is the southernmost tip of Bornholm. Its miles of sandy beach are ideal for pleasant beach activities and playing. The water is clear and the sand so fine that it was used in hourglasses right up to the 1800s. Napoleon himself is reputed to have used Dueodde sand.
The Apple Orchard Holiday Centre is situated on the northernmost part of Bornholm, not far from the ruins of the medieval fortress of Hammershus. Years ago there was an apple orchard here, but it has since been turned into The Apple Orchard Holiday Centre.

In the middle of the 19th century it was decided to plant a forest on the western coast of Bornholm, in order to prevent sand drift to the farm land of the island.
In the middle of the 18th century, enterprising peasants on Bornholm decided that serious measures were required to prevent sand drift from ruining their farm land. The solution they came up with was to plant a forest at the western coastline of the island. As the trees grew, they turned into what is now known as Hasle Forest.
The northern part of Bornholm has been a very popular tourist resort since the beginning of the 20th century, and the ever increasing number of visitors has made the area and the local economy bloom.
Sandvig Holiday Centre is situated on the northernmost part of Bornholm; in fact the nearest neighbor is the famous ruins of the medieval fortress of Hammershus. From Sandvig Holiday Centre there is only a short walk to the wonderful sandy beaches, which characterize this part of Bornholm.
