Holiday Park Lower Saxony - This state is known as “The Golf Land" due to the many courses that one can find here. The northern part of the region is flat, but towards the south one can find Weserbergland which has hilly terrain. This is where the Grimm brothers’ famous adventure takes place. Here one can also find part of the Harzen mountain range and the famous mining town Goslar, which is recognised by UNESCO as a part of the world’s cultural heritage.
Holiday Park Lower Saxony - The state capital is Hanover, located by the Leine River. Hanover is one of the most important cities in northern Germany, and it is particularly known for its international conventions such as CeBIT (electronics). The yearly Schützenfest attracts archers from all over the world, and the same can be said for the yearly Oktoberfest, which is the second largest in the world.
Holiday Park Lower Saxony - A visit to Hanover Zoo is an activity for the whole family. Here you can sail on an artificial African river and enjoy the sight of giraffes, birds, turtles, and hippos on land. Meyers farm is a traditional German farm where the children can play with some of the animals.
Holiday Park Lower Saxony - To the south, at the foot of the Harzen mountains, one will find the beautiful town of Goslar. It was founded in the 10th century, after silver had been discovered in the nearby Rammelsberg (636 m). The first mining shafts were dug into the mountain which soon brought great wealth to the town. In the 11th century the conditions were so good that Goslar got imperial status – and a palace, serving as the emperor's summer residence, was constructed in the town.
Holiday Park Lower Saxony - The town hall which dates back to the 16th century is also an impressive and well maintained structure - but the biggest attractions are the mines in Rammelsberg. Ore is no longer mined in the mountain. Instead one can find a museum that tells the story of the more than 1,000 years of mining. A visit here is a must when you vacation in this part of Germany.
