King Ludwig II of Bavaria not only financed Wagner’s house “Wahnfried”, which is now a museum, but also Bayreuth Festspielhaus; an opera house built for purpose of performing the composer's operas. Each year the city is the setting of the Richard Wagner Festival, an event that is so popular that the tickets are sold out years in advance.
